In 1996, Ed became a partner in NanoSoft Corporation, a Houston-based software consulting company founded by Odis Wooten and Leiko Wooten. NanoSoft grew to a group of 20 consultants specializing in Microsoft Windows technologies.
As a Principal Consultant at NanoSoft, Ed was involved with a wide variety of consulting engagements, including:
using Microsoft Transaction Server (now COM+) components to build a prototype airline reservation system for Continental Airlines with Microsoft Consulting Services in Houston, TX.
designing COM interfaces for a real-time embedded system to communicate with engine analyzer hardware for Snap-On Diagnostics in Chicago, IL.
building a COM Automation interface for thermodynamic analysis applications for Exxon Research and Engineering Company in Florham Park, NJ.
defining requirements and specifications for a geophysical workbench application for Western Atlas in Houston, TX.
Ed also served as chief technical evangelist for NanoSoft by publishing articles and speaking at various conferences and meetings. Over 10,000 developers worldwide downloaded the freeware code for resizable dialogs and views presented with Ed's Dialogisthenics publication. Another of Ed's publications, Dynamic Runtime Objects, presents an architecture for building plug-and-play framework applications and was published in Microsoft System Journal.
When NanoSoft Corporation was acquired by Extreme Logic early 2000, Ed and his wife, Jean Caputo, decided to move back to their original home near Pittsburgh, PA.
